Bachelor Buttons in Bucharest

This painting was inspired by someone very special to me who spent her early childhood in Romania during the years of communism. Life was difficult and resources were scarce, but among the memories were the fields behind her grandparents' home, where bachelor buttons grew wild. As a child, she would walk through those fields and pick flowers. The sacredness of something ordinary becoming so precious from an otherwise difficult time.

I painted Bachelor Buttons in Bucharest for her, someone I will love for as long as I am here, and for the quiet significance that seemingly simple things can come to hold in our lives, despite the different roads we find ourselves on.
