Parrot Tulips in Chinoiserie was inspired by the tulip fields of Skagit Valley, Washington, and my fascination with the history and beauty of chinoiserie. That appreciation was shaped in part by my mother, whose exquisite eye for art and design I admire.

The parrot tulips — a sweet nod to the two birds I share my home with, including my little parrot, one of my greatest teachers. I wanted the foliage to feel as alive as the flowers themselves, with a little wildness and weather running through the composition.
